COURSE NARRATIVE
The HCOM 322 class fulfilled MLO 4. This class provided me information about culture, history and art of Asian cultures. First, we talked about the Japanese internment camps and we watched the movie Come See the Paradise. For this topic, we had to work in teams to build a PowerPoint presentation about the movie (HCOM 322: PowerPoint). This movie helped me to better understand the situation of many Japanese people in the internment camps and the injustices they faced just because they had Japanese heritage. Also, Dr. Wang mentioned about the No-no boys who were Japanese men that kept loyalty to Japan and refused be part of the United States Army. Another, great topic we learned in class was about Chinese drama movies. For this section, we watched M. Butterfly which was based on a true story. I like this movie because it was about the culture of Chinese people and the stereotypes other cultures have about it. In addition, Dr. Wang talked about the Vietnam War and its consequences. On another hand, I love the readings, movies and assignments we completed in this class because I learned a lot of things about Asian cultures. Additionally, we had productive class discussions because every student shared their point of view and everyone learned from each other.
The document at your right is a group presentation of my HCOM 322 class. It is about the movie "Come See the Paradise" written and directed by Alan Parker.
