Reflective Narrative
All the courses mentioned before fullfied MLO 1. MLO 1 helped me develop my language skills in three modes: interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational by providing me different tools that supported my language development. All the courses that integrate MLO 1 helped me to develop different skills in different ways. SPAN 322 provided me a lot of information about Hispanic literature by reading and analyzing writings about different Hispanic writers. Also, I had the opportunity to do presentations about some of the readings assigned in class. For SPAN 303, I was able to learn new vocabulary words and synonyms that I used to support my writing assignments and conversations. In SPAN 305, we had a lot of short presentations and class discussions that helped me to improve my communication skills and better articulate my responses in a conversation. Also, we had different writing assignment based on the readings covered in class. One of those assignments was to answer some questions based on our understanding of a reading about values of Spanish people (SPAN 305: Assignment). In SPAN 300, I worked with my classmates in a cooperative way which helped me practice my speaking skills in Spanish. For SPAN 301, we learned how to use connector words in our writings which was really helpful to improve my writing skills. In this class, we had a lot of writing assignments. One of the writing assignments consisted to investigate about a topic of interest and I decided to write about domestic violence against immigrant Latina women in the United States (SPAN 301: Short Essay). SPAN 301S was really helpful for me because I had the opportunity to interact with people of the community, learned about Chicano literature and practiced my language skills in Spanish. SPAN 304 introduced me to Latin american and Spain narratives, poetry and theater. Additionally, we had small group presentations about the narratives, poetry and literary movements we studied in class. For SPAN 306, I learned about history and cultures of Latin America. Furthermore, I learned new vocabulary words, improved my writing and language skills. One of favorite classes was SPAN 345 because we had a lot of reading assignments full of important information about language development and language acquisition. Finally, WLC 400 provided the necessary tools to research sources for the Capstone Project, and our small presentations helped me to make corrections on my project. In conclusion, MLO 1 helped me to develop my language skills in different ways and supported my learning process in Spanish.
The document at your right is an assignment of my SPAN 305 class. This assignment is divided in two parts: the first part is based on questions that are about the values of Spanish people. The second part are questions that I formulated to conduct an interview.
