COURSE NARRATIVE
The SPAN 304 class fulfilled MLO 1 and 3. This class introduced me to Hispanic narratives, poetry and theater. Also, I learned about the biography of important writers such as Luisa Valenzuela, Gabriela Mistral, Julio Cortázar, Emilia Pardo Bazán, etc. Dr. Fernández taught us the different literary movements and their precursors such us Realism, Naturalism, Modernism, etc. One of my favorite literary movements was the Naturalism. For this reason, I decided to write my final essay about Emilia Pardo Bazán and analyzed one of her writings (SPAN 304: Final Essay). In this class, I learned how to identify rhetorical figures and tropes on poetry and narratives. However, poetry was the most difficult to analyze because sometimes I did not understand the meaning of some of the poems. Dr. Fernandez also talked about the historical and political context behind those narratives and poems. On another hand, I enjoyed our class discussions because everyone shared their ideas and understanding of the readings. Additionally, we had small group presentations about the narratives, poetry and literary movements we read in class. In conclusion, this class provided me rich knowledge about Hispanic literature and also gave me helpful resources that I can use for my future career as a Spanish teacher.
The document at your right is a final paper of my SPAN 304 class. It is about Emilia Pardo Bazán who is a Spanish writer. Also, the paper analyzed one of her writings named " Las medias rojas".
