REFLECTIVE NARRATIVE
All the courses mentioned before fullfied MLO2. MLO 2 helped me to develop fundamental knowledge about Linguistics and how to applied them on research papers. Additionally, it helped me to improve my writing skills and incorporated new vocabulary words on my writing assignments. However, one of the main challenges was to learn grammar and accent rules because sometimes I got confused. On another hand, the four courses that integrate MLO 2 provided me really good information about linguistics that will help me to perfectionate my writing. In SPAN 303, I learned the differences between “ ser” and “estar.” Also, I learned the Spanish verb conjugations such as preterite, imperfect, subjunctive, etc. For SPAN 305, I was able to learned about different professions and jobs people perform in Latin America. I acquired new vocabulary words related to the workplace that will help me to better communicate in my daily basis. Also, we had a lot of short presentations and class discussions that helped me to improve my communication skills and better articulate my responses in a conversation. In SPAN 301, I learned about the different types of writing such us persuasive, narrative, descriptive, informative and expository. For this class we had different writing assignments, one of them was to write an informative writing about something happening in the world. Then, I decided to write about Mexico's earthquake on September, 2017(SPAN 301:Informative Writing). Finally, SPAN 345 helped me to learn about bilingualism in the United States and other countries. Also, we had a lot of reading assignments with important information about language development, language acquisition and bilingualism. One of the class assignments was to conduct a short interview about what people think of bilingualism in Mexico and the United States (SPAN 345: Short Interview). Therefore, this activity helped me to practice my language and writing skills in Spanish. In conclusion, MLO 2 helped me to gain knowledge about linguistics and how to apply them on future projects.
